As the new Nanton Town Council gets to know each other, after the Fall election, one issue they are ready to tackle is drinking water.

Mayor Jennifer Handley says a taste and odour study was done two years ago and in the new budget they are putting money towards implementing the recommendations from that study.

"We've got a grant to work with the MD of Willow Creek and our municipal partners within the MD, to look at the condition of all the water treatment plants around our region."

Handley says they are also looking into new sources for water, including partnerships with other communities.
