Nanton Town Council is holding two public hearings at their meeting Tuesday, September 4th.

One hearing is to adopt a new Municipal Development Plan for the municipality.

Mayor Jennifer Handley says the plan has been in the works for three years.

"The Municipal Development Plan essentially is a document for new residents or developers or investors to understand where the town can go in the future," said Handley.

She adds, "It is nice to see it come forward for approval."

"Because it is a document that we started working on about three-and-a-half years ago, but it  kept getting put on the back burner. It is nice to see it come together."

Council will also get the results of a survey about the new plan and an open house saw a wide collection of people in attendance.

"I was really pleased with the turnout. We had about 12 people attend with everyone from business owners to realtors to interested residents."

The second hearing of the evening is to establish a bylaw to use alternative methods of advertising notices affecting residents by adding options like website posting, social media, digital signboards and bulletin boards.
