While most of Alberta continues to deal with the ramifications of an unsure economy, the town of Nanton is boldly pushing forward.

Mayor Rick Everett says demand is high for their final Westview area development phase, and he's even wondering if the Town will have to expand it's borders to accommodate more people.

But why Nanton?

What's making it so popular?

"We have a town in which it's safe to live in. Neighbours look after neighbours. Kids can walk to school safely. The Town is unique in that it is a western lifestyle. We have lots of ranches and lots of farming. There's rodeos every weekend. There's something happening all the time in Nanton to engage people."

Everett says so far this year they've got over 30 new houses being built, which doesn't sound like a lot, but for a Town of just over two thousand that's a big jump.

He says they're also constantly trying to add to their business community as well.

Everett adds the two usually compliment each other with more businesses coming to town as more residents start to call Nanton home.

He says on a per-capita basis, it would be like Calgary adding 900 new homes in the same period of time.
