A couple of local communities are among those that have received grants for being innovative when it comes to tourism.

Eighteen visitor service providers have received grants from the province’s Visitor Services Innovation Fund to help them develop new ways to connect with more travellers.

The Claresholm chamber's mobile kiosk will be at community events and high-activity locations to provide travel information.

And Nanton's chamber will set up an outdoor map and brochure holders outside the Visitor Information Centre to provide information after hours.

There'll also be a familiarization tour to encourage more community engagement, and a mobile visitor info centre at community events.

The innovation fund provided grants of up to $7,000 to individual organizations.
