The Nanton Chamber of Commerce is hosting a special meeting on November 20th.

They have actually, after two years of trying, booked local farm-boy, world traveller and motivational speaker Chris Koch.

Chamber director Pam Woodall says she has never been able to hear him speak in this area because he is too busy traveling around the world.

"Our schedules have never coordinated and this time they did," Woodall said. "That is why we are having it on November 20th, because he is just getting back from China and North Carolina."

He travels the world giving speeches on his life explaining that If He Can, everybody should be able to.

"He talks about his experiences, both growing up in a rural community with the basically the fact that he doesn't have arms or legs and all the things he was able to accomplish because he was brought up like everybody else was. He wasn't brought up to think of himself as disabled or in any disadvantaged. He was just encouraged to do what he could and he ended up being able to do everything."

There is just a short meeting to take care of some Chamber business before the talk which includes a motion to change the annual general meeting until early in 2018.

There are only 100 seats and while tickets are free to the event you need to get a ticket to attend you can get tickets through Event Brite or stop in at Because I said So in Nanton on the weekend.

The Chamber is accepting donations for Nanton Minor Hockey and the Nanton Food Bank on Koch's behalf.
