The Town of Nanton is spending another summer construction season hard at work replacing aging infrastructure.

One of the biggest programs is the replacement of water meters in homes.

Mayor Rick Everett says it's part of the Town's move towards full cost recovery.

"I think we've done a great job to date. There are some people who say they're charging too much. However, if we don't do a cost recovery, then it's going to go up in your taxes anyway. So let's do it the right way and understand where you're spending your money."

Everett says it's a cost residents can control depending on their water and sewer usage.

He says the town is also busy replacing some crumbling sidewalks along with older fire hydrants.

Everett says the sidewalk and hydrant replacement project is one that's on-going and won't be finished for a few years.
