Applying for the Canada-150 grant has paid off for the Nanton Agricultural Society.

They'll receive a cheque for $9,268 for a new lights tower for the rodeo grounds.

Ag Society President Jeff Sears says it'll be a huge help during the busy summer rodeo season.

"It's just a light to mark all of your positions for where your barrels, you poles or your eyes go. We have so many events there than when we find them in the ground and they get torn out, you have to get the tape measure out and re-measure everything and it's just easier if they're laser mounted."

Sears says the one catch is they have to wait for the budget to be approved after the Federal Election in October to find out if they'll actually get the cash.
