Do you know of an outstanding community builder in Southern Alberta, if you do MP John Barlow wants to hear from you.

Barlow will be handing out special medals to 150 outstanding people in his riding to mark Canada's Anniversary.

He and his team has come up with the Foothills Canada 150 medal.

To start with he really pushed the current government to do this on a national scale.

"We thought this was a missed opportunity," said Barlow.

He added he was really pushing the current government to try and to do something like this on a national scale.

"For whatever reason they did not want to do it. We just thought it was too good of an idea to not do it."

Other members of parliament may try to do their own program.

There is already a volunteer panel in place to judge the entries, Barlow isn't judging the entrees but he is sure there will be a lot of them and it will be hard to pick the winners.

They will be looking for community builders, committed volunteers, skilled athletes, and talented artists.

"We are looking for people who have helped build Southern Alberta."

Barlow said he knows the work that goes into building communities into a success.

"We thought this was a great opportunity to recognize the efforts people put in.

Winners will be announced on June 17th.

There will be one big event for the winners.

Nominations are open, to get a form go to his office in High River or Fort Macleod, or check online.
