A motorcycle ride in support of vision research over the weekend was a huge success.

The Ride for Sight in Bragg Creek featured a poker rally, motorcycle parade, bike games, a show n' shine, live entertainment and games for kids. The ride had 51 motorcyclists registered and saw others show up in support the day of the event.

Ken Geitz, Chairman for the Board of Alberta Ride for Sight, says the ride received a huge amount of support.

"We're looking at roughly $24,000 for the days event," he says. "We're very pleased and we understand the economy in Alberta isn't as strong as it has been in the past but everyone's hearts were in the right places and they were very generous with us."

Geitz says all the money raised will stay in the province.

"Historically over the years, the money that we raise in Alberta stays in Alberta," he says. "Our sub-committee here in Alberta with the Ride for Sight ensures that all the funds that are raised through the days events go straight to research."

Geitz says the organization is already looking ahead to the Ride for Sight in 2016.
