Those looking to do some outdoor skating in High River are out of luck so far this year.

Operations Manager with the Town, Eugene Lund says it's just been too hot.

"While really what we need at this point is for Mother Nature to cooperate a little more than she has. We typically flood the rink a couple of times a day when the weather's permitting but, right now it's just not working for us when we have temperatures like we have in the afternoon."

Lund says they have staff ready to go and flood the outdoor rink along Highwood Trail in the Town's far Southwest, and with temperatures expected to dip in the next few days they could get started on it sooner rather than later.

The planned temporary skating rink at George Lane Park is sitting unused as the weather has conspired to keep it too warm for proper ice to form.
