There's apparently good interest in a new Recreation Facilities Bylaw in the town of High River.

The Manager of Parks and Recreation, Craig Stanley says a pair of information sessions Tuesday brought forward some good input.

"We had about 25 to 30 people come by to talk about the Recreation Facilities Bylaw, and we've gotten some good response and some feedback from the community that we'll take into consideration as we take the by-law to council," Stanley says.

The bylaw will cover the use of all indoor and outdoor recreation facilities in the town and lets them standardize policies and procedures and improve access and optimize usage of them.

Stanley says this type of bylaw is not something that's usually seen in a town the size of High River, it's usually found in larger centres, but he says, it's something they've found they need to take a standardized, holistic approach to recreation.

He says they'll put together that input when the bylaw goes before councillors on May 23 and see where council wants to go from there.
