A Victoria B.C. man has plead guilty to charges of fraud after claiming to be a Fort McMurray evacuee to gain community support.

On May 12, 2016 RCMP launched an investigation into a couple posing as evacuees to get clothing, housing and food.

Darryl Rondeau was charged May 15 and plead guilty to his charge Wednesday May 25 in Fort McLeod provincial court.  

39-year-old Jaime Lynn Cox on Tuesday was also charged with five counts of fraud under $5,000.

Cox has been released with conditions.

She is scheduled to appear in provincial court in Fort McLeod on June 1, 2016.
