Minister of Infrastructure Amarjeet Sohi along with other Federal, Provincial and Municipal leaders gathered on a C-Train platform in downtown Calgary Saturday morning to make an announcement about funding for future infrastructure here in Alberta.

Sohi says, "We announced an initial list of forty-nine public transit projects, today I'm happy to announce the approval of an additional fifty-two projects across Alberta under the Public Transit Infrastructure Fund."

Minister Sohi says the investment will go towards technology, equipment upgrades, planning and purchasing new buses.

Sohi said on November 1, his government released an economic statement which laid out the fiscal framework of their  infrastructure plan.

"It will provide more that $180-billion dollars over twelve years for public transit, green and social infrastructure, transportation infrastructure as well as rural and northern communities."

He says the plan provides unprecedented levels of funding provided across the Province.

"The projects will help create long term economic growth, build inclusive sustainable communities and support a low carbon green economy."
