MD of Foothills Division Two Councillor is defending the local RCMP.

Mounties are coming under fire for what's perceived as a lack of action in dealing with rural crime.

Miller says it's not fair to blame local detachments for shortcomings out of their control.

"No I don't think so. They're working hard. They're short staffed. I think we've got to lighten their load a little bit, help them out. And hopefully the Province will help them out with some administrative funding, so that they can get out and do their job and be on the ground with people."

Miller says the RCMP officers she's talked to are just as frustrated and she and other landowners are about the rise in rural crime.
