The 187 Foothills Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron has made a great impression on High River town council.

Mayor Craig Snodgrass says Lieutenant David Moretta approached council last week requesting approval for a Freedom of the City ceremony.

"Council's pretty excited about it, it's pretty important to David and those guys that we do traditions like this and I think it's fantastic that the cadets are going to be the parade marshals this year, so this just fits in," Snodgrass says. "I went out and met those kids and spoke to them about a few things and just a phenomenal group of kids that are, they're spending their time wisely and they're involved with the community with that squadron."

May of next year is the squadron's 75th anniversary.

Before the Little Britches parade they'll march to the town office where the mayor will perform an inspection and grant them the Freedom of the City.
