Maternity services are being returned to the High River Hospital, but not right away.

Inpatient maternal and newborn services at the hospital are going to be restored starting June 3.

They were temporarily suspended on April 21 as part of the ongoing Calgary Zone Pandemic Capacity Planning.

AHS also plans to reinstate all inpatient labour and delivery, NICU, postpartum and newborn care at South Health Campus in southeast Calgary.

The move is still contingent on the Calgary Zone maintaining a manageable caseload of COVID-19 cases over the coming weeks.

AHS is reminding families that hospitals remain a safe place for expectant mothers to deliver, and for mothers and newborns to receive care during the pandemic.
