The Town of Nanton has a brand new Fire Chief.

Mike Matchett says it's his second time around with the Nanton Department.

"I just rejoined the Nanton Fire Department in January again after taking a few years off. But, I was previously on the department for a little over 10 years. Going back, I started my fire fighting career in 1997."

Matchett says he'll be working with his team to address the issues of bush fires and other seasonal fire hazards in the area.
