4-H Clubs, Scouts, and other community groups will be down in the ditches this weekend cleaning up Alberta roads.

The annual Highway Cleanup is this Saturday, May 5 from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and drivers are asked to slow down and use caution when passing clean up crews.

The Government pays groups between $55 to $100 per kilometre cleaned, depending on how close the road is to an urban centre.

Last year, the Province divvied out about $1.1 million to 709 volunteer organizations.

Participants are also asked to be aware of their surroundings and make sure they're visible when cleaning Saturday.
