The Guy Weadick Days Rodeo and Chuckwagons have been a part of High River history for nearly 100 years.

However getting locals to buy into the festivities happening in their own backyard hasn't always been easy.

High River's Economic Development Officer, Jodi Dawson, says area residents can't get lost in the shuffle of trying to attract visitors from out of town.

"First and foremost it's for the people in this region. It's an opportunity to take a look at the amazing talent we have in our own region. So, first we need to be out and support each other, and then attract others."

Dawson says it's about finding balance, saying any reason for people to come to High River to see what we're all about is a good thing.
