The federal government still plans to move ahead with plans to bring 25,000 Syrian refugees to Canada by the end of December as it promised during the election.

Foothills MP John Barlow, along with a number of others, has urged the Prime Minister to put it on hold.

"I think as Canadians we want to do our part, I don't think anybody questions that, I think what we are questioning is why the rush," Barlow says. "Why are we not doing our due diligence in being prudent in how we bring these refugees to Canada."

Barlow says questions like where they would live and who would pay for services hasn't been determined and the manpower and staffing isn't in place to deal with so many applicants in such a short time. He feels it can be put in place but now in the time frame that's been given.

He claims Prime Minister Trudeau is making these decisions unilaterally and he's asking him to take some time and wait until Parliament's back in session December 2, so an open, transparent and frank discussion can be held.
