The annual Firefighter Stair Climb Challenge at the Bow Building in Calgary was a huge success again Sunday, May 7.

Shawn Wiebe from the Nanton Fire Department made the climb for the second year in a row and says he certainly wasn't alone.

"This year there was over 500 firefighters. Last year there was about 300. From Nanton there were nine of us, that climbed. There were others from Claresholm, the MD of Foothills. There were quite a few."

A couple of teams from the High River and Okotoks Fire Departments took part as well.

Wiebe says the fastest time he saw was was from another Nanton Firefighter in Jamie Vang, who made it to the top of the Bow Building in just over 15 minutes.

Wiebe says his time wasn't as good as last year's but that was ok, as they raised a lot of money for the Wellspring program which offers support for firefighters and their families battling cancer.
