Boston Pizza in High River is stepping up to help students at Spitzee elementary become good citizens.

Vice Principal Mark Traber says the restaurant has really been a miracle worker for them.

"They approached us and saw what we could purchase (after the donation) compared to what we have right now so we're in quite the phenomenal shape in regards to character education for the next number of years here at Spitzee school," Traber says.

He says the money raised by Boston Pizza this month will go to the school's character education program which teaches students to regulate their emotions and transfer those skills to become better people.

"We're starting out with what is called the Zones of Regulation which is a social-emotional learning curriculum which helps kids regulate their emotions and once that's occurred we move into social curriculum's where they take those regulation skills and use them, transfer them and use them to be better capable citizens, which Boston Pizza is looking, is how can we train our kids to be those great citizens and community members in the future," explains Traber.

For the rest of this month diners can round up their restaurant or take-out bill with the balance going to the school or a dollar from each $10 Lunch special also goes to Spitzee. On Booster Night, Wednesday March 23, $5 from every large pizza sold between 5:00-8:00 p.m., both in the restaurant and take-out order- will be donated to Spitzee.

He thanked Boston Pizza for having faith in the school's programs and joining with them.
