High River's Little Britches Rodeo is doubling down this year.

High River Ag Society President Ted Evans says they're going from one day of rodeo action, to two.

"We've added Friday for kids busy on the May long weekend, so that they can still come out to the event and compete. We've also added the wild pony racing and it's a qualifier now for Guy Weadick Days."

That means the final four who qualify will run their finals during the final day of rodeo at Guy Weadick Days in June to showcase the sport in front of the larger crowd.

Evans says they've also moved to add more agriculture to the event this year by adding the Longview 4H show and sale to the Holiday Monday.

"We stopped and took a look and we are an agriculture society, so we should cater to the agriculture community. And Longview 4H is coming back. They're going to have their show and sale on the Monday of the May long weekend, in conjunction with Little Britches. It's exciting to have the youth back, the agriculture back."

As well the annual Little Britches Parade is all set for Saturday, May 19 starting at 10 a.m., running through the streets of downtown High River.
