The 59th annual Little Britches Parade is all set for Saturday, May 19, in High River.

Parade Chair, Hank Leeferink, says the parade gets going at 10 a.m. and goes in reverse of the Santa Claus Parade.

"We start off by Jolee Electronics and we go north and then turn south on Macleod Trail and go past Spitzee School and a couple of blocks past that and we always go past the hospital. Just for those that can't get out of the hospital, we want to make sure they see the parade as much as we do."

Leeferink says parade goers will be able to really quench their thirst this year as Tate Barton will double up on his lemonade stands.

"He's franchised now! We're so pleased to see that he's putting in a second location. All the proceeds go to the High River Hospital and the cancer centre. We're very proud of Tate, as always. We hope that everyone swings by and picks up a lemonade from Tate."

Leeferink says they have a record 78 floats taking part this year, including members of the Stoney First Nation from Eden Valley, who are returning to the parade for the first time in a number of years.

The parade is a salute to first responders this year with six parade marshals from Fire, EMS and the local RCMP.

They include:

Former Fire Chief's Oliver Perry, Len Zebedee and Lark Isbell.

Dr. Keith Spackman and Fred Stegmeier representing EMS.

And High River native and current High River RCMP Staff Sergeant, Robin Alexander.
