If you've driven either near or through High River's George Lane Park over the last couple of weeks you've probably noticed the amazing display of Christmas lights strung up for the holidays.

High River Santa Claus Parade and Light Up High River Chairman, Ted Dawson, says you can thank local service clubs and a boatload of volunteers for that.

"Honestly it couldn't happen without them, and especially when we look at it with the Lions Club, the Rotary Club and the Kinsmen Club. At this point, just in the George Lane Park lights, we have over 850 volunteer hours, just putting the displays up in the park."

He says Fortis Alberta kicks in three crews and bucket lift trucks to string lights in the trees, while High River Rentals loans them a 40-foot articulated lift to help move displays into place.

Light Up George Lane Park goes Friday, December 7 starting at 5 o'clock.

The parade kicks off at 6:30 p.m.
