For weekend travellers there's been a landslide in Northern Alberta near Grande Cache along Highway 40 near Sheep Creek Provincial Park at Township Road 581A, reducing part of the highway to one lane only.

The Alberta government says motorists should expect some small delays, as there are temporary signals alternating the traffic flow, as well as the speed limit being reduced to 50 km/hr.

That section of the highway is expected to have only one lane open for traffic for several months as there is construction needing to be done to prevent further landslides.

Construction will include building a retaining wall, landslide excavation and repaving.
