One of the highlights of Bomber Command Museum in Nanton takes place Friday, August, 18.

The museum is hosting a night run of the Lancaster Bomber engines at 10 p.m. and if you haven't yet seen the event, it's a bucket list must.

Director, Dan Fox, says to hear those engines in the dark is one of his favourite events.

"The night run gives you a feeling of what it was really like when the Lancaster's were starting up to go on a night missions over Germany or occupied France," said Fox. "And the time they would be starting up is 10 o'clock at night in England."

They would be all bombed up and fueled up and 700 to 800 bombers would be circling England until they were all ready to head out to the targets.

"It would run chills down your back. People have told me what it was like it actually shook your chest there were so many in the air. We are just trying to recreate a little of that feeling for the audience."

The event gets underway at 7 p.m. with a meet and greet with refreshments and special guests arriving from different parts of Canada.

On Saturday, August 19, they'lll be hosting the "Salute to Group 6 RCAF" with engine runs and special guests.

The event gets underway at 8 a.m. with a pancake breakfast.
