Alberta's justice minister and solicitor general is in the area hosting a couple of town halls.

The first is Tuesday, July 20 at the Millarville Racing and Ag Society starting at 6 o'clock.

Justice Minister Kaycee Madu will be joined by Highwood MLA RJ Sigurdson in Millarville where they'll both be taking questions.

Madu is going around the province looking for feedback on issues surrounding rural crime.

The government earlier this year launched the Rural Alberta Provincial Integrated Defence response, giving Alberta Sheriffs expanded authorities to help the RCMP on urgent calls and to investigate a wider range of traffic offences.

The town hall sessions will also be an opportunity to discuss ongoing work to modernize the police act, as well as update the public on the progress on the feasibility study on establishing a provincial police service to replace the RCMP in Alberta.

Madu will be in Claresholm Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
