A few High River drivers might have had a bit of a shock on Saturday when they were stopped on Centre Ave. and 7th St.

They were facing down a long line of RCMP officers, Fire Department members along with volunteers in bright vests and EMTs in uniform,

But it was okay, they weren't writing tickets, they were looking for donations to Jump Start.

Iva Woodward with the town of High River says it is always nice to see the support High River residents have for local charities.

"We used $32,000 worth of funds to help local youth, so it is great that we get to keep all the funds here," said Woodward.

Volunteer Sam Spangler says he was happy to be back for the third year in a row to help out.

"It is wonderful to come out and feel the love and support of our community as we help underprivileged kids get access to sports throughout the year," said Spangler.

Fire fighter David Roe says High River always comes through for a good cause.

"It's been going fantastic as per usual, High River residents are coming out in droves and making fantastic donations for Jump Start and keeping this program funded, allowing kids to be able to play sports that they otherwise might not be able to," said Roe.
