Changes are coming to those looking Joe Clark and Spitzee School.

The Foothills School Division has realigned their boundaries to help fix the problem of overpopulation at one school, and not enough at the other.

Director of Planning Monica Kohlhammer says the boundaries will fix that problem.

"At Spitzee we had 91.5% and at Joe Clark we had 67.4%, we've been reviewing it since November, and the realignment really addresses that inbalance and is also reflective of the projected growth in High River."

Kohlhammer says the neighbourhood of Montrose will be the most affected.

"Montrose will now be included within the Joe Clark boundary. We'll go from Montrose then some of the South East part of Centre Street and part of 2 Avenue and then up on Centre Street."

Despite the changes to the boundaries, Kohlhammer wants residents to be know the changes only effect new students starting in the 2016 school year, not for existing students already enrolled in either school.

"Existing families can remain in the schools they are today. Any new families coming to Foothills Division registering for September 1, will be directed to their new boundary school."
