The Town of High River has given the arena's at the Rec-Plex a much needed facelift.

New paint adorns the walls of the big rink, in High River Flyers colours, while the Flyers dressing room has all new paint and lockers thanks to the team and some town workers who volunteered their time.

The High River Flyers logo proudly perches above the players in the Flyers dressing room. Players and town volunteers worked to put the new look up.

High River's Parks and Recreation Manager Guy Latour says, the best part is none of the work is flood related.

"Just started really looking hard at some of the needs of the facility in putting those forward in capital requests. We're very lucky and blessed that administration and council see the importance of recreation and putting that investment back into the community and supporting recreation, and we're just trying to get that in front of them now."

A new ice plant is ready to go, which should make the ice in both arenas the best its ever been.

The rinks also have a new ice plant, or condenser in place, which will make the ice much better than it's been in the past.

The Town also put a new lift for the disabled in the pool which Latour says fills a gap in helping people with mobility issues use the facility.

This new lift will mean persons with disabilities or mobility issues will have a much easier time accessing the pool at the Rec-Plex.
