Some numbers of note from Tuesday nights election.

Nationally Almost 67.71% of eligible voters turned out, which is the highest since 1993 for a federal election. when 69.6% came out to vote.

Here in the Foothills Riding that number was even higher at 73.96% or almost 60,927 of the 82,380 eligible voters.

Conservative John Barlow captured 75.7% of the vote, while his margin of victory was almost 37,958.

The new Bow River Riding, which includes Vulcan, had a smaller turnout at 66.42%

Former Brooks Mayor Martin Shields was the winner there as he received 51.4% of the vote with a margin of victory of 31,791 votes, or 83% more than second place finisher from the Liberals.

And history was made in Calgary Tuesday night as two city ridings turned to the Liberals, with former MLA's Kent Hehr and Darshan Kang taking seats, the first for the Liberals since "Trudeaumania" back in 1968.

The final seat count was 184 for the Liberals, 99 for the Conservatives, 44 for the NDP, 10 for the Bloc Quebecois and one for the Green Party as Leader Elizabeth May was returned to Parliament by the voters of Saanich/Gulf Islands.
