About one hundred people showed up at the Bob Snodgrass Recreation Complex Thursday night for an information session on the Town of High River's land use major review.

Melissa Ayers with McElhanney Consulting was on hand to answer questions and she says there was support and some concerns.

"Primarily around the changes to secondary suites and established neighborhoods in particular and how redevelopment would fit in to the existing neighborhoods."

Melissa Ayers says the town is working on making it easier for new businesses to set up shop in town and the development industry is taking notice.

"It reduces a lot of the process and actually encourages development, which is one of the biggest factors to what developers look at because, the longer it takes to get through the planning process the harder it is to make a project work."

Ayers says a survey is available online for residents to weigh in on what development will look like in the future.

"The survey is open until November 27 and at that point we'll reassess the bylaw and see how close we hit the mark."

She says providing there aren't any major revisions public hearings should start in early 2017.
