There is a plus side to all this cold weather, particularly if you're a fan of being outdoors.

Ice on area lakes is getting close to being 6 inches thick, which is enough to walk on if you plan to do some ice fishing, or even go skating on.

While the lakes are usually safe, things like storm water retention ponds here in Town, or river's and streams are never safe to cross no matter how thick the ice looks.

Current and varying water levels mean you can never tell how thick the ice is until you've fallen through.
