There were no stories about the one that got away at the annual High River Fish and Game Association Antler Scoring on Saturday afternoon.

Association President Tony Ewanishin says it's an annual event that members look forward to.

"We're doing the antler measuring at this time. Whoever gets the best of either species wins a trophy which is awarded at our banquet on March 19 at the banquet centre in High River."

Volunteer and Member Ryan Rempher says they're all lined up for bragging rights and he might have a winner.

"I was fortunate enough to cash in on a bull elk from the Suffield hunt. It took twelve years priority to get the draw to be able to hunt on the base. On the first day of opening season I was able to connect with a pretty sizable bull."

Rempher says it was a 6 x 7 bull elk that gross scored 338.

He says it came in just over nine hundred pounds and was dressed out at about four hundred and sixty pounds.

Association President Tony Ewanishin says their club is among the largest in the province.

"In our group there's about 70 members in the High River area. The affiliate clubs total about 24,000 members."
