Highwood Wildrose MLA Wayne Anderson calls Thursday's Speech from the Throne a great work of fiction.

Anderson says it had no value or merit and didn't talk about any realities.

"Basically what it was trying to do was an attempt to tell Albertans 'Don't look at the balance sheet, don't worry about the debt, don't worry about the future, sorry about not creating jobs for the last two years but I think we're going to be better in the next two years' kind of thing," Anderson says."It really was a very interesting document, probably in the last twenty years I've never read such great fiction in a throne speech."

Anderson says Wildrose has advocated for the reduction of school fees for years and while the NDP has talked about it, they're finally now just getting around to doing it.

He says the issue of dealing with orphan wells has gone on too long.

"It's been an issue in Highwood for some time and now that Lexin has finally been exposed for who they are and how they've been managing, it's about time we start recovering that land and paying back to the individuals who've been financially impacted by that, but again what are the details," he says. "They've known about this for years, yes we're going to do it but no details so it's going to take awhile for them to get through this process but we're saying is show us what you're going to do."

He's looking forward to seeing what the March 16 budget might have in store.
