There's a closure in the west country but this time it's not bears or fires.

Alberta Parks says a boardwalk is being replaced on the Highwood Meadows Trail.

The short, barrier-free trail starts near the summit of the highest paved highway in Canada, following a boardwalk through a fragile alpine meadow.

The access to Ptarmigan Cirque Trail will remain open, but the boardwalk is closed to the public for the duration of the project which should be complete by October 6, 2017.
