Councillor Emile Blokland made a special presentation to Mayor Snodgrass and the Town of High River yesterday Tuesday afternoon during Town Council.

High River has been a participating member of the On-It Transit pilot project and the town received special recognition for it.

"The On-It Regional Transit Pilot Project of which High River is a part of along with Okotoks, Turner Valley and Black Diamond was selected from a field of twenty-nine other nominations throughout the province for its Innovation Award."

Blokland says the project has been in development over the last two years and now it's ready to go.

"There's going to be a commuter bus service available from the Town of High River, Black Diamond, Turner Valley, Okotoks to Calgary that will begin this September."

Councillor Blokland has been acting as council's Representative on the Calgary Regional Partnership Transportation Committee.

He says High River was selected from twenty-nine other nominations throughout the province for it's Innovation Award.

"On behalf of my part in the steering committee for this is to award to the Mayor representing the Town of High River the award from Alberta Transportation presented not only to CRP but all four of the participating municipalities for the Innovation Award for transportation."
