High River RCMP responded to as many as three break and enters last week.

Both took place on Friday, August 5 between 1:30 and 2 A.M.

Police say entry was gained into the "Studio D" Hair Salon and The Salvation Army through rear doors.

RCMP Sergeant Brent Hawker says they're seeing more of this type of crime.

"We have seen an increase in property related crime, theft of vehicles, thefts from vehicles and break and enters. The object is to try to make it as difficult and as a community come together. That's why we've been pushing for several months the need to report any suspicious activity."

He also says Studio D had some things taken.

"There were two laptops taken as well as an undisclosed amount of money."

Police responded to an alarm at the Legion the same night and found entry had been gained through a rear door as well but nothing was taken.

High River Legion server Joan Reznechenko says they can empathize with those businesses because they were also broken into.

"Somebody broke into the back door, broke the glass on the back door and went in and broke into an office to the right of the back door and there was nothing in there so we don't think they really knew what they were doing."

High River RCMP continue their investigation and ask anyone with information to contact the detachment at 403-652-2357 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS), or online at www.tipsubmit.com
