The High River Food Bank should be getting some extra help, thanks to the Pathfinder's upcoming food drive.

Guider with the Pathfinders, Pam Guthrie-Fleming says the event is coming soon.

"The High River Pathfinders are holding a "Fill the Truck Food Drive" on February thirteenth from 12-3 p.m. at the High River Sobeys in support of the High River Food Bank."

Guthrie-Fleming says the Pathfinders have a career in guiding. Sparks are the youngest group of guides and start at four years of age. The oldest of this years pathfinders is thirteen, and has several years in the guiding movement.

""Pathfinders have been around since 1979. They are a division of Girl Guides of Canada. A big part of the Pathfinders program is community leadership. So, the girls chose to do the food drive as a community service project that they would lead."

She notes the girls chose this food drive as their first community event.

"They have put it together themselves with some guidance. This is their first community event and they'll progress into more community events and take over greater responsibility for organizing and leading the event."

All proceeds from the "Fill the Truck Food Drive" will go to the High River Food Bank.
