High River Town Council voted on Monday February 26th to move ahead with the next steps in expropriating the land needed for the southwest berm.

An earlier inquiry officers hearing came back in favour of the action.

The next steps included council approval and now administration now needs to draft a response to the report and distribute it by March 18th.

The inquiry officer ruled the exportation is fair, sound and reasonable for the achievement of the objectives of the expropriating authority.

The landowners had argued that it was not necessary to expropriate the land at this time as the project has not been approved and the project may not  be exactly as proposed.
