The new patio at the High River Library held their official grand opening Wednesday, August 8 with well over 100 attending.

Friends of the Library President, Kathy Lambourn, says it took about four years to raise the cash to have it built.

"We do a casino every three years, so we've saved up money. We had this project in mind and the Library Board came to us asking if we would fundraise for it and we did. And just the logistics of getting everything and all the parties together to make it happen, and so I'm really glad it happened and it looks really awesome!"

Members of the High River RCMP were on hand to barbeque free burgers and hot dogs with EMS on hand with an ambulance allowing people to explore it.

The 3,000 square foot patio is available to rent for private functions, or to just sit outside and read a book.
