The High River Library is hoping to fill a few staff vacancies.

They need a summer student to run the Summer Reading program, a casual position needs to be filled and they are in great need of some volunteers.

But there isn't much time left as applications for the summer position closes on Monday, and to get the job you need to be good with children.

Library Director Mary Zazelenchuk says students who are applying should be prepared with some ideas.

"Have some ideas, like three or four things that would promote literacy," said Zazelenchuk. "Something that would engage them with new technology and that would prepare them with futures in various fields."

In order to qualify for the summer job you must be going back to school in the fall, that is the condition of the funding grant the library receives to pay for the position.

The anticipated start date is May 8 and the jobs runs for 16 weeks, 35 hours a week.

The library on-call is a casual position, deadline to apply is March 13.

The organization is also in need of volunteers for everything from dusting to shelving books.

Zazelenchuk is also looking for a volunteer or two to make some posters which would be a big help with advertising up-coming events.
