Deb Gardner will soon be retiring after 21 years as Director of the High River Library, and everyone is invited to celebrate with her on Saturday, June 4 starting at 7 pm.

Program coordinator Joyce Brown says it will be a great evening to honour Deb and celebrate her time at the library.

"It's going to be an awful lot of mingling and chatting with Deb and being able to say the goodbyes. At 8 o'clock there will be some speeches, we'll have some brief goodbyes from staff and board and the Friends of the Library and honour Deb. Then we'll celebrate with cake and some entertainment."

She says it will be a time for everyone who's been in and out of the library over the past 26 years to say their goodbyes and celebrate with Gardner.

"We are hoping all the regular users that have been in and out of the library for the last 26 years will stop in and say goodbye to her. She started off in 1990 as a library clerk and then moved up through the ranks and then by 1995 she was a director of the library."

Brown says Gardner has always put patrons first.

"We've just been very fortunate to have had Deb at the helm. She's always put patrons first and the library has reflected her philosophy of always having lots of good books for everyone to read."

Gardner's last day as director of the library will be June 30.
