Some good news for the High River Library when it comes to the Provincial budget.

They won't see any cuts.

Library Director, Mary Zazelenchuk, says they'll get what they were expecting.

"Money from the Province doesn't compose the majority of the library budget. That comes from the municipality. But it was around $72,000, which would have been significant (if it had been cut) and we didn't have any flex-room in our budget."

Zazelenchuk, says they couldn't afford a hit to their budget as they're on pace for a record number of visitors this year.

"We're a busy place. We had 71,733 visitors to the library in 2018 and looking at year to date figures we're on track to exceed that by at least 3,000 visits this year."

She says the only room they would have to cut if they had to, would be to staff and as busy as they are it would make for a less enjoyable visit to the library for their guests.

She says the best way to help the Library stay in the black is to buy a yearly membership.
