Several volunteer groups around town are making preparations for this year's 32nd annual Santa Claus Parade in downtown High River.

The event is scheduled for December 7 starting at 6:30 p.m.

Member of the Rotary Club and Chairman for the Parade Ted Dawson says, kids can look forward to seeing some familiar faces this year.

"We'll host the Royal Princess Parties out of Calgary, they're all the Disney characters, the princesses and everything else. They will be coming down at the night of the parade at the gates George Lane Park, after 5 o clock for a little mix and mingle with the guests."

Dawson says this year is also set to host some festive holiday music, courtesy of local caroling groups.

"We have the Foothills Philharmonic Chorus, and they're set to do some caroling around the parade route as well, so that's really exciting, just having some festive music for the evening."

Along with music and entertainment for kids, Dawson says guests can look forward to shopping, a chance to meet Santa, Nativity Displays, Christmas lights and a surplus of warm hot chocolate.

"It's really gonna be exciting to come downtown, wander around, do some shopping and taking in all the hot chocolate, because I don't think you'll have to wander more than a half a block to find someone with hot chocolate."
