Another local business is stepping up to the plate to help out the residents of Fort McMurray.

Paul Morrison, the owner of High River Ford, says they're collecting goods to help out the residents who've been evacuated from their community.

"The needs are for non-perishable food items, toiletries, pet food, my understanding is they've got a lot of clothing but that's the top needs that we're being told at this moments," he says. "We're going to move them up Monday afternoon."

He says staff have customers and friends in the community and after what happened in High River three years ago they felt compelled to help in any way they could.

"You can never look at anybody else's disaster and feel you know what they're going through because because everybody's is a different situation, but we have dealt with adversity and we did know what it felt like to have no access to you home and have your belongings destroyed and memories and animals and pets and I can't imagine what they're all going through up there right now," he says.

They'll take donations Saturday May 7, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and then Monday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
