Number #3 Defenceman Chase Groeneveld for the High River Flyers headed over to the High River Cancer Centre on Thursday November 1, to deliver the Flyer's proceeds from this years annual "Pink the Rink" event.

Groeneveld says this year's fundraiser to bring awareness to breast cancer, was a resounding success.

"It was a great event - and I'm glad to be here presenting this amount of money. It's definitely heart warming, and I'm sure this event will continue to draw the support of more fans of course, but obviously the main goal is to put forward money towards a good cause."

The team donned custom pink jerseys in their game against the Airdrie Techmation Thunder on October 27 and following the game the team auctioned off the jerseys to attending fans.

As a result the newly developed cancer centre in High River received a cheque for $2006 from the team.

Groeneveld says both he and his team are excited for what the future has in store for the hockey club's annual Pink the Rink game.

"As the years go on, I'm sure it will continue to grow and proceeds will only get higher."
