High River Town Council got together Friday, November 8, for a special meeting to deal with budget issues in the wake of provincial budget cuts.

The Town's Chief Financial Officer, Kola Oladimeji, says they've set aside a couple of days to start working the numbers for the Town's budget for the year.

"November 18th, that's when we look at all the expenses for the Town. Then how do we fund it? What level of taxes are we comfortable with? Yes, that will be discussed that day."

Councillor, Jamie Kinghorn, says they're going to have to tighten their belts a little bit and make some changes to how and what they spend their money on.

"Well, we're going to be a little tougher on administration this year and see if we can't cut some stuff out or postpone it. As we talked about in the meeting we talked about moving some stuff out to 2021 or 2022."

Town Council holds their regular meeting Tuesday, November 12, at 3 o'clock in Council Chambers.

They'll also hold a trio of special meetings starting Thursday, November 14, to deal with community funding requests and again Monday, November 18 and Tuesday, November 19 to go over the operating and capital budgets.

The public are welcome at all the meetings.
