The High River Centennial Library wants to help parents get their children excited about reading, in honour of Family Literacy Day.

Deb Gardner with the library says they will be starting a family focused bingo challenge throughout the Foothills MD.

"Jointly in the community we like to celebrate Family Literacy Day, and we work with Literacy For Life Foundation and the other libraries within the MD."

She says the activities are all family-focused and geared towards promoting literacy for children.

"Celebrate Family Literacy Day by completing a literacy bingo challenge.  The cards are free, and will be available on Wednesday, January 27th.  Join the fun, as you teach your family the importance of literacy."

Gardner says there are prizes to be won as well.

"Spend the next three weeks completing the challenges, return the cards by 4pm on February 19th to win prizes and be entered in a grand prize family gift basket (draw)."
